July
Same as above until about the 25th. At this time the spring salmon begin to really thin out. However Coho fishing is excellent, the Coho will now average 10 to 12lbs. Halibut are still the same size, but chance of getting a big one is really good if you target them. There is also lots of pinks and chum salmon at this time of year as well.
August
Same as above. However the Coho now average 12 to 14 pounds with some fish around 15 pounds. Halibut fishing is excellent, and if you want to go for a big one, they are around. There are a limited number of Spring Salmon left.
September
Coho fishing will stay strong until around the middle of the month, with big northerns showing up around the first week. Coho are now averaging 12 to 16 pounds. Halibut fishing is still excellent with lots of big ones around (by big I mean 50 lbs to over 100 lbs).
Limits are as follows:
- Salmon - 8 in possession. 4 a day, only two of which may be Chinook.
- All other salmon species, including Coho, are 4 a day, 8 in possession. So you can have any combination of salmon, not exceeding the 8 fish limit. You may keep 4 Chinook in total, with 4 other salmon making up you limit, or when there are no more Chinook around later in the summer, you can keep 8 Coho.
** Note: Keep in mind, as it stands now we have the highest Coho limits in B.C.!!
Halibut are 2 a day, 3 in possession.
Lingcod are 3 a day, 6 in possession.
Rockcod are 5 a day, 10 in possession. Only 4 of which (2 a day) may be yellow eye (Most people call them Red Snapper).
